This Sketch Comedy Troupe began with a vision from Yahweh The Heavenly Father to a young man from Marrero, Louisiana, Kevin Griffin. He moved to Los Angeles to continue his mission of becoming a professional actor. He quickly realized he was in a different kind of Hood, Hollywood. With the belief of being versatile in life, he wanted to be more than just an Actor. So, he decided to explore other aspects of the entertainment industry. Producer, Writer and Director. With the blessing of a genuine friend, Veronica Cooper, an old friend of Lucille Ball, just kidding, they started a Sketch Comedy Troupe.

So they followed the yellow brick road and The AfroMedians were born. The Group is made up of an array of talented persons from actors to stand-ups comedians to a complete make up of unique individuals. The cast has the right mix and the chemistry of the players who are undeniably funny. The AfroMedians have produced and performed their own shows at The Rip Rap and Two Roads Theater. They also made special appearances at The Hollywood Park Casino, The Echo Park Film Center and on Channel 23 KVMD . With the quick wit of professionals, this Family of Comedy has proven to be the world's next big Episode. So, tune in!

You put on a great show, very funny, and everyone I talked to said you all were dope. I'm very grateful that the AfroMedians were a part of the Jam Session, and I look forward to working with you all again in the future.

yes...we loved ur show, i'm actually gonna invite like 10 of my friends to see the show in july. i was laughing soo hard to the point i started crying and i want to share that w/my friends as well as showing some support and i see ur from louisiana and that's where i'm from.

Kevin Griffin is a native of Marrero, Louisiana. He attended Alabama State University where he received his Bachelor of Science in the study of Biology. He also attended the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences where he received his Bachelor of Science in the study of Nuclear Medicine Technology. He moved to Los Angeles to work as a professional actor. (Hear Kevin at www.orlandosjoint.com). He is currently co-producer of a public access television show. He has been successful in all the paths he has chosen, thanks to the Heavenly Father, Yahweh. He is trustworthy, witty and spiritual-bodied. As he continue his journey here as a Homo Sapiens, he will walk by Faith and not by Sight. He knows this quote is from the Bible, but he do not know the book or verse. Could someone help him?

Veronica “stay up all night” Cooper (stage name) born and raised in Jackson, Mississippi. She began her journey of entertainment by modeling, performing interpretations, dramatizations and various comedic characters.

She founded VAC Productions and produced her one-woman show, “Veronica Cooper Live in Concert” at the Municipal Auditorium in Jackson. It was unheard of for comedy to be performed at the Municipal Auditorium or anywhere in Jackson at that time. Veronica is the first black or white, male or female to grace the stage with comedy in that arena.

Over the years she has done commercials, theatre, films and special appearances all over the country. Veronica is a prestigious member of the Screen Actors Guild and holds a spot in the National Register’s of Who’s Who.

Her clean language and imagery have a funny surreal quality. Her improvisational skills aide her in performing her stand-up routine all over Los Angeles. “When God allows you to use your gift and connect with an audience at the right time in the Universe that’s magic, that's God's magic.”

Time surely brings about a change. Now that I’ve gotten older I believe I’m due a name change. My stage name should be changed from Veronica “stay up all night” Cooper to Veronica “sleep all night and half the day” Cooper.

Kevin hails from Stockton, CA, a little small farm town. After getting tired of wrestling cows, catching jack rabbits and riding donkeys, Kevin realized he had a purpose in life. Though he’s still confused about his purpose, he LOVES to entertain. After somehow receiving his BA in theatre from Morehouse College (class of 2004), he moved to L. A. to make it happen.

Shawna Michaels is a native of Cleveland, Ohio. Even as a little girl at the age of two, she loved to perform, She fell in love with Theater watching her mother perform in local productions. The acting bug bit Shawna, after appearing in her first production in elementary school. Shawna received her BA in Theater from Fayetteville State University; while at FSU, she performed in several stage productions honing her acting skills. Shawna went on to receive a MFA in acting from Tisch School of the Arts in New York. It was then, while she was in New York training to be quote a “serious dramatic actor”, that Shawna discovered her funny side while performing Comedia Del’Arte and writing her one woman show piece. Shawna went on to perform with New York’s Gotham City Players Improv Comedy Troupe. “I love the feeling I get from making folks laugh. I love to entertain people; it’s my drug.”

Shawna is a jack-of-all-trades; she’s also a former model and Ms. Black North Carolina. She has appeared in several independent films. Don’t put this actress in one box; she’s definitely a multi-talent; she can still deliver a great classical piece, flex her chops in a drama, put it down with improv, and perform and write sketch comedy. Shawna credits her slew of characters to her family and her many experiences in the dysfunction that she calls her life.

I owe all of who I am as a performer and actor to God, who always keeps me in his grace, my mother, who always encouraged and still encourages me to forge forward with my dreams, and my mentor, Edward J. Fisher, who believed in me, trained me, and rode my back hard when I became complacent with my skills. He always told me, “to be the epitome of excellence.”

Nesha Blair

Originally from West Palm Beach Florida, Nesha Blair came to Los Angeles to study theatre at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. As an actress, she is proud to be a part of the AfroMedians' ensemble. She thanks the cast for their support and is looking forward to an exciting and rewarding experience.
